I’m Chris Dauk, my family owns and operates Dauk Farms in Madison Lake, Minnesota.

So three years ago, we built our first Brock bin and we needed more capacity, storage capacity. And now this current year we added the dry, we added a receiving system, we added a grain dryer.

Choosing a Mixed Flow Dryer

So mixed flow is kind of the new wave of the future. Everybody’s going that direction. We feel it’s a better quality product, the way it mixes the grain. There’s lower or less maintenance with a mixed flow dryer. No screens to clean, none of that business to deal with. So that’s why we went the direction we did.

VECTOR® ENERGY MISER® Mixed Flow Dryer

We chose the Brock VECTOR Mixed Flow Dryer because of the quality of grain it puts out and the technology behind the control system.

INTUI-DRY® Control

The new INTUI-DRY System, we really liked that. The ability to just put it in auto, it controls the speed of the unload, it controls the temperature automatically. It’s just kind of a set it and forget it type of thing.

When you put it in automatic, it changes the unload speed automatically and it also changes the temperature setting automatically. So It decides what temperature it should be drying the corn at, so you don’t have to worry about overdrying or underdrying. So that was probably my biggest push towards a VECTOR Dryer or the Brock dryer in general.

Web-Based Control

So the mobile control, the INTUI-DRY is what I really, I’m happy with. So it’s a nice touch-screen, you can change things easily on.

But again, the technology was a big thing for me. So I like being able to look at it on my phone. If I’m at home in the evenings, I don’t have to go all the way out to the dryer system and look at everything. I can just check it from my phone.

EVENFLO® Unload System

With the EVENFLO Unload System, there’s no metering rolls, there’s no points for any debris or anything to get caught in. It’s just one chain, one system, one motor that unloads the entire dryer. So it’s much less maintenance, kind of foolproof. Don’t have to worry about it plugging up or collecting debris or anything like that.

From what we’ve seen the first year of operation, it’s a very consistent moisture reading.

TrueGrain™ Moisture Sensor System

With the TrueGrain Moisture Sensor system, it’s been very accurate for us. There were minimal calibrations throughout the year.

With our old moisture sensor system, it was on the side of the auger. So we’d have lots of fines or maybe condensation or something along those lines, skewing the results. So now with the TrueGrain Moisture Sensor System, it’s in the middle of the grain flow. It’s a much more consistent even reading versus any of the older systems.

Brock, we just feel, is a higher quality product. We want something that’s gonna be here for 40 or 50 years, and not have to worry about it.

I think having this Brock system is gonna give us the ability to expand further in the future. Makes us more efficient. We can unload trucks faster, dry corn, faster. So we’re just able to expand further in the future.
